Our Ethos
In 2022 we made a big change in the pre-school and re-vamped the whole setting.
We base our ethos on the curiosity and hygge approach to early years. We follow a holistic approach to learning and follow the children’s personal interests via the planning in the moment pedagogy. Every child is different and following this allows us fun and effective play-based experiences.
We replaced almost all of our plastic and closed-ended resources with a variety of natural resources; plastic plates and cups in the home corner replaced with china plates and mugs, characterised play figures changed for wooden peg people who could be anyone or anything, lots of wooden blocks for building and so many loose parts for cooking, decorating or hiding! These changes allow the children to experience a variety of textures and weights that a previously predominantly plastic environment didn’t allow for and create a home from home atmosphere.
We really value our fantastic parents and our generous wider community and enjoy creating events for these important stakeholders to attend such as afternoon teas, lunch with Santa, village Easter egg hunts and more.
Connecting with parents and the village supporting one another is a key component to us and really cements our home from home atmosphere here, creating one big family.
